PAPER SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Guidelines for the submission of papers for the 9^th International Symposium of Sterilization and Hospital Infection Control.

-Papers can be submitted for evaluation by the filling of an online form that can be found at: www.sobecc.org.br between May 1 and July 20, 2014.

Orientation for the submission of Abstracts:

- Write in the title of the Paper, names of author, co-authors (maximum of 5) and the Institutions where each of them works.

- The Abstract must have: An Introduction/Justification, Objective, Method,   Results and Conclusion. No References needed.

- All Papers must be original and contain up to 3.500 characters including spaces.

- Abstracts have to be written in either Portuguese, English or Spanish.

Requirement for the submission of Papers:

At least one of the authors must register in the 9^th Symposium.

Poster Type Presentation

- The Free Themes Commission will decide which Papers will be eligible for Poster Type Presentations.

- Papers have to be presented as Posters.

- Posters should meet the following requirements:

* The available area is 1,20m high x 0,87m wide

* A Poster should contain: Title, Author/s, Unity, Financing Agency (if that is the case) and Key-words written at the top of it. The following parts should be written right below the Key words: Introduction, Objective(s), Method, Results, Conclusion and References.

- The following criteria will be taken into consideration when evaluating a Poster:

• Clarity of presentation;

• Originality;

• Statement of authorship, title and key-words according to the DeCS (Health Science Descriptors);

• Scientific work structure: Title, Introduction/Justification, Objective(s), Method, Results, Conclusions, References.

- The Theme Commission will choose the Papers to be presented as Posters. The best Papers shall be awarded and presented orally by their authors at the Plenary Session in the “Grande Auditório” on September 20, 20114.

- Full researches shall not be accepted.

- The Judging Committee will evaluate Papers confidentially, with no access to names of authors and/or coauthors as well as of the Institutions they belong to. Abstracts will be judged according to the relevance and impact of the research done, attainability of the target, method used, clarity and objectivity of the Paper as well as its originality.

- Here are some recommendations for Poster elaboration:

• Authors and Financing Agency: lower case letters with capital initials;

• Key-words and subtitles: lower case letters with capital initials;

• Text: the formatting of the text has been indicated in the Norms;

• Introduction/Justification: the relevance of the subject must be described briefly;

• Objective(s): must be stated clearly, concisely and in a practical way;

• Method: the method used or the approach to the research must be explained briefly;

• Results and Discussion: state the most relevant results achieved;

• Conclusions: point out the main results achieved in relation to the initial objectives;

• References/Bibliography: highlight the main references used when writing the work.

Register online at www.sobecc.org.br under “Inscrição Trabalhos Científicos” (Registration of Scientific Papers). The Abstract must be typed in the online form.

Evaluation of Papers

All works will be evaluated by competent professionals. Papers approved are eligible for presentation in the event if at least one of the authors has enrolled in the 9^th Symposium no later than July 31, 2014. Papers will be selected according to availability.

Announcing

- Titles of selected Papers will be announced at the website of the Congress, at www.sobecc.org.br, and by email beginning August 20, 2014.

- The main author will receive an e-mail with the result regarding the Poster presentation approval.

- All works will be evaluated by competent professionals and the Papers approved will be eligible for presentation in the event if the author has enrolled in the Symposium no later than July 31, 2014. If not so, the Paper will be disqualified.
