Considered as the most beautiful beach in the country, Porto de Galinhas is becoming increasingly visited by tourists from all over the world. The beach is located 60 km away from one of the Brazil´s most modern airports, Recife International Airport, which is accessible from major international airports.Porto de Galinhas, also known as ‘Porto’, has all the prerequisites to host such an important scientific meeting as WorldLeish5. It offers the necessary infrastructure for the scientific and social activities, including paradisiacal resorts, hotels, and inns. It was originally a fisherman’s village, but today it offers many options of restaurants, commercial services and entertainment activities.Porto is characterized by its friendly people and its historical heritage, cultural diversity and rustic architecture, which makes it a unique destination in Brazil.
One of the most famous destination in northeastern Brazil, the village has acquired international fame over the last few years, with its off shore millenary reefs, white sand, palm trees and crystalline, warm water (average temperature: 28°C/82F) during the entire year.
